Jesus and Salvation

The Word of God gives hope to a hopeless world.  It is only through Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, that there is salvation for a lost generation.
Last night I finally got to watch the movie “The Book of Eli,” and it was a great movie!  The movie is basically about one man’s mission to protect and preserve the last surviving copy of the Bible (King James Version) 30 years after an apocalyptic event.  For a Hollywood movie, the religious undertones were so thick that it also told a story underneath the story.
Aside from all the blockbuster action that is to be expected from such a movie, it also told the story of mankind’s longing, aching, and searching for God in a lost world, and the hope of getting salvation through His Word.
The psalm of David, was quoted in full by Eli, the lead character of the movie played by Denzel Washington.
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. (Psalm 23)
I feel this Psalm best captures the hope we have in the Lord in this dying world of ours.
May we learn to put our trust in Him Who loves us more than we can ever imagine.
Jesus, King of Mercy, I trust in You!
